If Dominik Kahun is going to make the Blackhawks roster it's likely to be in a role higher up the lineup. He has enough skill to be a great complementary piece in the team's top nine, if not top six. Kahun gets the opportunity to skate in the latter tonight against Detroit as he's grouped on a line with Jonathan Toews and Alex DeBrincat.
"I'm really excited for the first preseason game at home," said Kahun. "I can't wait to play in the building. I'm just excited to get going at home, play with those guys and try to show my game."
For Kahun, it's going to be a challenge to focus on his own game versus trying to do too much and forcing the puck to those playmakers. However, he seems up to the task.
"It's obviously not that easy, but they're probably going to make it easy for me in the game," he said. "I also try to help them with my game by making plays, holding the puck, bringing my speed into the game. They're also really fast players, so I think it should be good."
Toews has already given the 23-year-old German forward some advice.
"He just tries to help me, tells me things, what maybe could help me," Kahun said. "He told me not to think too much, just play my game and it should be a good thing."
