Blazers explode in second period to earn 7-2 triumph over Prince George @NHLdotcom

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. - The Kamloops Blazers scored three unanswered goals in the second period and skated to an easy 7-2 win over the Prince George Cougars in WHL action Friday.

The Blazers (16-16-1-1) now have an 11-point lead over the Cougars (11-23-1-0) for the final playoff berth in the Western Conference. The Cougars were 9-9-0-0 on Nov. 4, but have won just twice in the 17 games since then.

Scott Wasden had a hat trick for Kamloops, with singles from Darcy Huisman, Tyler Shattock, Jimmy Bubnick and Alex Rodgers. The Cougars got both of their goals in a 10-second span in the first, by Greg Gardner and Evan Fuller.

Tommy Tartaglione allowed all seven goals on 31 shots for Prince George, while Kamloops counterpart Justin Leclerc blocked 29 shots for his 11th victory of the season.
