The longest-running curse in North American sports ended early Thursday morning, when the Chicago Cubs won their first World Series since 1908 with a dramatic 10-inning, 8-7 victory at the Cleveland Indians.
There was plenty of reaction from the NHL community after the Cubs' historic triumph, starting with the hometown Chicago Blackhawks.

Goaltender Scott Darling plans to honor the Cubs championship with a special mask for the 2017 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic against the St. Louis Blues at Busch Stadium on Jan. 2, 2017.

Former Blackhawk Andrew Shaw of the Montreal Canadiens was just as excited.

There also were kudos to Cubs manager Joe Maddon from Tampa Bay Lightning coach Jon Cooper.
