Center Nick Schmaltz agreed to a three-year, entry-level contract with the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday.

Schmaltz, Chicago's first-round pick (No. 20) in the 2014 NHL Draft, has played the past two seasons at the University of North Dakota. He had 16 goals, 56 assists and 106 shots in 75 games, including 11 goals and 35 assists in 37 games of his sophomore season for the NCAA champion Fighting Hawks.
Schmaltz also had two goals and eight points in seven games to help the United States to a bronze medal at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship.
