In continued support of local hockey communities, Discover is making a $2,000 donation to each of the Learn to Play programs this season. This week, a look at Chicago Blackhawks representative Abbie McDonald of the Little Blackhawks at Glen Ellyn Admirals.

Name of coach: Abbie McDonald
Name of program: Little Blackhawks at Glen Ellyn Admirals
About the coach:McDonald is a Level 4 USA Hockey certified coach and has been playing hockey since 1998 in co-ed and women's leagues. About the program: McDonald has worked with the Little Blackhawks program the past four seasons to introduce the game to players of all backgrounds and ability levels. She has gone above and beyond to help us run programming, get participants their equipment, and provide next steps to families. Coach Abbie's hard work and her constant efforts to ensure that the players are always developing, and having fun, has fostered a love for the game in countless players over the years.
Donation meaning: McDonald said a donation to the program would give her the opportunity to purchase goalie gear for the 8U and 6U In House players. She would love to give more players the opportunity to try goalie at a young age. Not only will this help them develop more goalies but it helps the players develop a better sense for the game overall by learning all positions.
