Rookies Jaret Anderson-Dolan and Austin Wagner have the opportunity to earn a role in the LA Kings lineup sooner than expected. With Dustin Brown's
hamstring injury
and Johnny Brodzinski's
shoulder injury
, the roster has a few spots available.

"The way you've got to look at it is... next man up," said Kings Assistant General Manager Michael Futa. "There's a couple kids in the group that have put themselves in that opportunity with Wagner and Anderson-Dolan."

Key injuries create opportunity for Kings prospects

For Wagner, it's critical he uses his speed to elevate the Kings' game and create chances.
"He's an elite NHL skater. He's the guy that's going to create opportunties with his speed," said Futa. "He's going to catch a lot of people off guard."

As for Anderson-Dolan, he's shown he's serious about playing in the NHL now and isn't taking this opportunity for granted.
"His coaches trust him. He doesn't cheat anything on the ice," said Futa.

"Now's the time that we need these guys not only to have found their way and found a spot into an NHL jersey," said Futa, "but we need them to contribute."
