Bishop to start Monday afternoon for Senators

by Mike G. Morreale

NEWARK, N.J. -- Ottawa Senators backup goalie Ben Bishop will make his third start of the season on Monday afternoon against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center (1 p.m. ET, SNET-E, MSG).

Starting goalie Craig Anderson, who is 7-4-2 with a 1.61 goals-against average and .948 save percentage, will earn some rest after making three starts in five days but will likely return between the pipes on Tuesday at Scotiabank Place to face the New York Islanders.

Bishop (0-2-0, 3.03 GAA, .910 save percentage) is not only making his first start since a 36-save performance in a 1-0 loss to the Winnipeg Jets in Ottawa on Feb. 9, but seeking his first win since March 16, 2012.

In addition to the change in goal, left wing Colin Greening, a healthy scratch in Saturday's 3-0 loss to the Maple Leafs, returns to the lineup. To make room for Greening, Senators coach Paul MacLean will bench struggling Mika Zibanejad, who has one goal and three points in 10 games.

MacLean will also have defenseman Patrick Wiercioch replacing Andre Benoit along the blue line. Meanwhile, center Peter Regin, who has missed a week with a chest injury, remains day-to-day.

MacLean was asked why he decided to scratch Zibanejad, the team's 2011 first-round draft pick.

"He hasn't played very well," MacLean said.

For the Devils, left wing Andrei Loktionov will make his debut for coach Pete DeBoer on Monday.

Loktionov, acquired from the Los Angeles Kings on Feb. 6 in exchange for a 2013 fifth-round draft pick, will replace Jacob Josefson in the lineup. Josefson, reassigned to the team's American Hockey League affiliate in Albany on Sunday, had just one assist in 15 games with the Devils this season.

Loktionov had seven goals and 15 assists in 37 games with the AHL's Manchester Monarchs. He had no points and six shots three games with Albany. DeBoer will start Martin Brodeur between the pipes; the veteran keeper is 36-22-4 all-time against the Senators with a .917 save percentage.
