Birkholz scored three goals to lead the Silvertips over the Thunderbirds 5-2 @NHLdotcom

EVERETT, Wash. - Josh Birkholz scored three goals to lead the Everett Silvertips over the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds 5-2 on Wednesday in Western Hockey League action.

Nick Walters and Joshua Winquist also scored for the Silvertips (7-22-8) while JT Barnett chipped in with three assists.

Branden Troock and Marcel Noebels scored for the Thunderbirds (16-19-1).

Kent Simpson earned the win and third star of the game by making 32 saves as Calvin Pickard stopped 22 shots in defeat.

Everett went 2 for 6 on the power play while Seattle failed to score on five opportunities with the man advantage.

The victory snapped a three-game losing streak for the Silvertips.
