Big first period for the Whalers as they defeat the Bulls 4-3 @NHLdotcom

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - The Plymouth Whalers scored four times in the first period to defeat the Belleville Bulls, 4-3, Friday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Dario Trutmann, Stefan Noesen, Mitchell Heard and J.T. Miller each scored for the Whalers (20-8-3).

Daniil Zharkov, Brendan Gaunce and Luke Judson scored for the Bulls (19-11-0).

Scott Wedgewood made 31 saves for the win while Malcolm Subban stopped 27 shots in defeat.

Plymout went 2-for-7 on the power play as Belleville scored once on six opportunities with the man advantage.

The Whalers' Rickard Rakell saw his 13-game points steak come to an end.
