Bestland scores first two goals of WHL career as Wheat Kings beat Cougars @NHLdotcom

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C - Darren Bestland scored the first two goals of his Western Hockey League career Wednesday, keying a comeback that led the Brandon Wheat Kings to a 6-5 shootout victory over the Prince George Cougars.

Brayden Schenn scored the only goal of the shootout to provide the difference. Dana Tyrell scored two goals for Prince George, with singles from Brian Matte, Cameron Cepek and Alex Poulter.

Del Cowan, Matt Lowry and Scott Glennie had the other Brandon goals.

Andrew Hayes stopped 34 shots in goal for Brandon. Prince George goaltender Joe Caligiuri, a 19-year-old acquired from Brandon two weeks ago, faced 36 shots.

Announced attendance was 2,288, the lowest-ever for a WHL game at CN Centre in Prince George. The previous low was Jan. 15, 2008, when the Portland Winter Hawks were the visitors.
