Best of the Best: November

From young blueliners delivering in the clutch to vintage Sedinery, the Canucks made some spectacular plays over the past 30 days. Here is the best of the best from the month of November.

Best Goal
Sedin twins toy with Red Wings at the Joe (11/10/16)
The Canucks were looking to close out their road trip on a winning note when they took on the Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena. While they didn't end up getting the result they desired, the Sedin twins netted a beautiful goal that baffled the home crowd. With the Wings leading 2-0 in the third period, Troy Stecher made a great play at the blueline to keep the puck in. Daniel Sedin received the puck on his backhand in the high slot before immediately dishing it to his brother at the side of the goal mouth. Instead of shooting the puck or taking it in on Jimmy Howard, Henrik immediately fed the puck back to Daniel, who fired it into an empty goal cage. It was the veteran's fifth goal of the season and part of his eight-game point streak, which lasted from Nov.5 to Nov.19.
Best Assist
Horvat sets up Burrows with beautiful no-look pass (11/26/16)
The Canucks and Avalanche were tied 1-1 entering the third period in a matchup at the end of the month. It didn't take long for the team's leading scorer to take the reins. Bo Horvat started the play by stripping Carl Soderberg of the puck in the defensive zone. After stealing the puck, the 21-year-old darted up the left wing towards the goal. Despite being heavily pressured by Avalanche blueliner Francois Beauchemin as he cut wide, Horvat was able to send a perfect centering pass to a trailing Alex Burrows in the high slot. Burrows rifled a shot past Calvin Pickard to give Vancouver the lead. The Canucks went on to win the game in a shootout, with Horvat once again playing a key role in a victory. The young center was clutch in November, netting four goals and finishing the month on a five-game point streak.
Best Save
Miller sprawls for diving 'save of the year' candidate (11/10/16)
The Canucks were trailing the Red Wings 3-1 towards the end of the third period in their final game at Joe Louis Arena, but goaltender Ryan Miller made a spectacular save to ensure his team could still have a chance to comeback. With just over two minutes remaining in regulation, Miller headed to the bench for the extra attacker. After the Canucks turned over the puck on the rush in the offensive zone, Miller realized he better return to the crease. Henrik Zetterberg was already at center ice, however, as he fired a puck towards a seemingly empty Vancouver net. Miller rushed back, though, stretching out and robbing the veteran with a sensational glove save. The Canucks fell to the Red Wings on the night, but that ridiculous save earned the Michigan native a standing ovation from an impressed crowd at the Joe.
Best Milestone
Stecher dekes out Benn and nets first NHL goal vs. Stars (11/13/16)
The Canucks were down 3-1 to the Stars in the third period of a matchup against Rogers Arena. They ended up winning 5-4. Thank Troy Stecher. With Vancouver trailing Dallas 4-3 in the final two minutes of regulation, the puck came to the Vancouver rookie at the line. Stecher kept the play alive, before quickly deking around a pressuring Jamie Benn and wiring a shot past Dallas netminder Kari Lehtonen. Stecher's absolute rocket blew through the butterfly of Lehtonen and was the first NHL goal for the 22-year-old. The tally was part of an impressive comeback effort in which Vancouver rallied from two separate deficits in the final period to force overtime and then defeat the Stars. Stecher made quite the impact this past month, racking up five points and logging significant minutes on Vancouver's blueline.
Best Penalty Shot Attempt
Hutton tames Coyotes with slick OT winner (11/17/16)
The Canucks and Coyotes were tied 2-2 in overtime when blueliner Ben Hutton was awarded his first career NHL penalty shot. With the game on his stick, the 23-year-old moved in on Coyotes goaltender Louis Domingue. Hutton came in with the calmness of an NHL veteran, faking shot before going to the backhand and sliding the puck through the wickets of Domingue. Hutton's goal brought the crowd to their feet and gave the Canucks a 3-2 victory. Hutton exhibited sweet hands on the play, as he got Domingue thinking shot, before slickly taking the puck to the backhand, opening up the netminder and sliding it through. The young and energetic rearguard had a November to remember, racking up two goals and six points, helping him emerge as Vancouver's current defensive leader in scoring.
