BEARD-A-THON is back: Fans called to grow beard @NHL

EAST AURORA, NY - BEARD-A-THON, proudly presented by Just For Men Mustache & Beard, invites hockey fans across the United States to join in a great hockey tradition and grow their own playoff beards for the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Beard growers will also be raising money for charities across the nation.

In the past four seasons, more than 22,000 fans have participated in the BEARD-A-THON program raising over $2 million for charity. This season, the goal is to raise an additional $1 million dollars with all playoff-bound NHL clubs participating in the program.

To participate in the BEARD-A-THON fans sign up at, choose their favorite NHL team, and invite family and friends to pledge their playoff beards. By receiving pledges, participants promise not to shave until their team wins the Stanley Cup or is eliminated from the playoffs.

Those fans who can't or don't want to grow beards can still get involved by supporting their beard-growing friends or even the team's players who are growing their beard to support the BEARD-A-THON.

Last season, the New York Rangers fans led all teams by raising over $98,000 for the Garden of Dreams Foundation. Rangers' fan, Lawrence Burian, led all fans by raising $22,477 with his heroic playoff beard.
