SPOKANE, Wash. - Kyle Beach scored his league-leading 52nd goal and the Spokane Chiefs beat the Kelowna Rockets 5-2 in Western Hockey League action Tuesday.
Levko Koper, Blake Gal, Stefan Ulmer and Kenton Miller also scored for the Chiefs (43-21-5).
Shane McColgan and Brandon McMillan replied for Kelowna (33-32-6).
James Reid made 30 saves for the Chiefs while Mark Guggenberger and Adam Brown combined for 26 saves for the Rockets.
Spokane's win, coupled with Portland's 3-0 win over Everett, brings the Western Conference race down to the final three games of the regular season with the Chiefs playing both teams ahead of them in the standings.
Everett and Tri-City are tied atop the conference with 93 points each, and the Chiefs sit two points back at 91 points.
Spokane will play a home-and-home series with Tri-City on Friday and Saturday, then host Everett on Sunday.
