Battani scores twice as Mississauga open East semi with a 4-1 win over Ottawa @NHLdotcom

OTTAWA - T.J. Battani scored twice, including the go-ahead goal in the second period as the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors opened their Eastern Conference semifinal with a 4-1 win over the Ottawa 67's on Thursday night.

Chris Carrozzi made 28 saves for the Majors, who will be trying for a two-game lead when the best-of-seven series resumes Friday in Ottawa.

Gregg Sutch and William Wallen also scored for Mississauga, with Riley Brace and Rob Flick each chipping in with two assists.

Corey Cowick scored the 67's goal with his sixth of the playoffs.

Battani broke a 1-1 tie with his first of the post-season at 13:30 of the second period and added an empty-netter with under a minute to play.

Wallen opened the scoring late in the first and Sutch put the Majors up 3-1 at 3:10 of third.

Chris Perugini made 34 saves for Ottawa.
