Battalion drop Kingston 3-1; clinch fifth place in OHL's Eastern Conference @NHLdotcom

BRAMPTON, Ont. - Sam Carrick scored twice as the Brampton Battalion clinched the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 3-1 victory over the Kingston Frontenacs in Ontario Hockey League action Sunday afternoon.

Ken Peroff had the other goal for Brampton (25-29-14).

Ethan Werek replied for Kingston (33-30-5).

Carrick opened the scoring at 17:50 of the first period, firing a shot past Tyler Beskorowany.

The Battalion added to their lead on the power play :28 into the second period when Peroff's point shot got through.

Werek cut Brampton's lead 1-0 at 7:58 by slipping a backhand by Patrick Killeen for his 30th goal of the season.

Carrick made it 3-1 at 10:07 of the middle period.

Brampton out-shot Kingston 45-13. John Cullen relieved Beskorowany for the third period and turned aside all 12 shots he faced.

With Kingston finishing fourth in the OHL East, the two teams will face-off against each other for the first time in the playoffs.
