SARNIA, Ont. - Alex Basso had four assists as the Sarnia Sting beat the top-ranked London Knights 4-3 in Ontario Hockey League action Sunday afternoon.
Reid Boucher had a goal and two assists for Sarnia (7-1-1), which won its seventh straight game. Nail Yakupov had a goal and an assist, while Charlie Sarault and Craig Hottot also scored.
It was the first meeting between new Sting head coach Jacques Beaulieu and his former team in London, currently ranked first in the CHL.
"It was a great game. A chess match, with a playoff atmosphere in October," said the former longtime Knight's assistant coach.
Colin Martin, Max Domi and Bo Horvat replied for the Knights (8-2-0), who had a three-game win streak snapped.
Special teams were the difference as the Sting scored three power-play goals on seven chances, while the Knights went 1-for-3.
Brandon Maxwell made 27 saves for Sarnia, while Michael Houser stopped 32 shots for London.
