Banged-up Islanders place forward Grabner on injured reserved; Sabres bench Hodgson @NHLdotcom

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The New York Islanders have placed forward Michael Grabner on injured reserve before their game at the Buffalo Sabres.

It was not immediately clear Sunday what Grabner's injury was after he played in a 2-1 loss at Boston a day earlier. Grabner had missed the first 25 games of the season while recovering from hernia surgery. He has five goals and seven points in 18 games.

The Islanders recalled forward Colin McDonald and Harry Zolnierczyk from Bridgeport, their American Hockey League affiliate.

McDonald had no points in two games with the Islanders in October. Zolnierczyk has yet to play in the NHL this season after signing with the Islanders in free agency last summer.
