Bailey scores winner as Kootenay edges Red Deer 3-2 to clinch playoff birth @NHLdotcom

RED DEER, Alta. - Andrew Bailey's third-period power-play goal was the winner as the Kootenay Ice slipped past the Red Deer Rebels 3-2 Friday night and clinched a Western Hockey League playoff berth.

Tylan Stephens also scored on the power play and Kevin King added a goal for Kootenay (32-27-2-6), while Todd Mathews made 26 saves, including 10 in the third period.

Joel Kot and Landon Ferraro, with a man-advantage marker, replied for Red Deer (22-26-1-9), which was officially eliminated from the playoff race. Rebels netminder Darcy Kuemper stopped 22 shots.
