TORONTO - Jimmy Appleby of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar was named the Canadian Hockey League's goaltender of the week Tuesday.
Appleby had 17 saves in a 6-1 victory over the Victoriaville Tigres on Thursday before stopping 30 shots in a 6-2 win over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Sunday.
The 18-year-old from Trois-Rivieres, Que., leads the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with a 4-0-0 record with a shutout, 1.25 goals-against average and .951 save percentage.
The Drakkar have the QMJHL's best record at 8-1-0.
Nathan Lieuwen of the Kootenay Ice and Matt Murray of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds were also considered for the award.
Mark Stone of the Brandon Wheat Kings was named the player of the week after registering nine points (four goals, five assists) in three games.
Rafael Bussieres of the Drakkar and Seth Griffith of the London Knights also received consideration for the award.
