Player Spotlight: Mikko Rantanen

Rantanen's eight points and seven assists leads the Avs through the team's first five games of the season. He enters Colorado's game Tuesday night against the Rangers on an five-game assist streak, having registered a helper in each contest to start the season. Rantanen is the first player to notch an assist in the club's first five outings since John-Michael Liles (nine games) in 2010-11.

Quotable

"Four games, good teams. Some of those teams are playing real good right now. It will be a good challenge for us. I'm excited to get back on the road actually and see what our team's got. Just came off of a short road trip, played really well in one game, so hopefully we can repeat that performance here on the road for these four." - Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar ahead of the team's four-game road trip
