STL@COL, RR: Kadri scores game-winner as time expires

Welcome to August Madness.

Colorado Avalanche forward Nazem Kadri just beat the buzzer with a game-winning goal on Sunday that just snuck into the net ahead of the final buzzer.

Instant replay showed that the puck crossed the line with 0.1 seconds still remaining, delivering the Avalanche to a win against the defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues in Round Robin play.

Kadri shared a photo of the goal and celebration on Instagram on Monday with the caption "Photo finish, that was hype. Great to be back with the squad."

Also on Monday, the Avalanche turned the clip into what they called "a short film" and shared it.

It was only the second time a game-winning goal came at 19:59 of the third period in NHL postseason history. Jussi Jokinen of the Carolina Hurricanes scored the first one.

Kadri's dramatic goal not only lit up fan reaction on social media, it produced some pretty incredible photos.

The team also shared an incredible ice-level view of the historic play.

Kadri, acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2019 offseason, put back a rebound off a shot by Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog. After a replay review, it was ruled a goal and set off the celebration.
