Avalanche GM Sherman guests on today's 'NHL Hour' @NHLdotcom
NEW YORK – Colorado Avalanche General Manager Greg Sherman is today's guest on NHL Hour With Commissioner Gary Bettman on and SIRIUS XM Radio at 6 p.m. ET. Deb Placey will co-host today's show from New York.

With Tuesday's shoot out win against Vancouver, Colorado officially clinched the eighth and final a playoff berth in the Western Conference. The Avs will be heading back to the postseason for the 12th time in 14 seasons since 1995-96. Only Detroit (14) and New Jersey (13) have made more trips to the Stanley Cup Playoffs during this time.

"Last summer we said that we wanted to regain our identity and bring this franchise back to where it belongs," said Sherman. "Reaching the playoffs is another step in that direction. The credit goes to our players and our coaching staff. We are happy to be where we are but not satisfied."

Sherman's rookie crop just may be the best in the League. Forward Matt Duchene currently leads two NHL rookie statistical categories including points (55), goals (24) and is tied with Islanders' John Tavares for powerplay goals (10). Including Duchene, Avs rookies LW T.J. Giliardi, C Ryan O'Reilly, RW Brandon Yip and D Ryan Wilson have combined for a total of 157 points through 80 games.
