Aubry, Pare each have goal and two assists as Griffins defeat Marlies 6-3 @NHLdotcom

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Louis-Marc Aubry and Francis Pare each had a goal and two assists as the Grand Rapids Griffins beat the Toronto Marlies 6-3 in American Hockey League action Friday.

The Griffins beat North Division-leading Toronto for the second time in four nights.

The Griffins trailed 3-2 in the second period before blowing the game open with four unanswered goals.

Brendan Smith, Jamie Johnson, Doug Janik and Adam Estoclet also scored for the Griffins (9-11-1).

Nazem Kadri, recently named the AHL player of the month for November, had a goal and an assist for Toronto (12-6-4). Ryan Hamilton and Marcel Mueller also scored.

Tom McCollum made 23 saves for Grand Rapids, while Jussi Rynnas stopped 27 shots for Toronto.

The Marlies opened up an early 2-0 lead. Hamilton scored at 6:29 of the first period when the Griffins failed to cover him, and Kadri batted a puck out of the air from the goalmouth at 10:44.

Grand Rapids got one back with just 11 seconds remaining in the period as Smith directed Pare's pass behind Rynnas.

The Griffins tied the game 2:04 into the second period on Johnson's team-leading 11th goal of the season.

A pair of minor penalties assessed to Janik gave the Marlies a four-minute power play opportunity, and they took a 3-1 lead on Marcel Mueller???s redirection of a Kadri centring pass at 7:05 of the second.

It was all Griffins from that point on. Aubry tied the game at 8:44 when he recovered the rebound of Garnet Exelby shot and scored a power-play goal.

Janik made up for his undisciplined play by giving the Griffins their first lead of the night at 15:01, firing a slap shot from the point past a screened Rynnas.

Janik then set up Pare's power-play goal at 9:17 of the second to put Grand Rapids up 5-3.

Estoclet capped the scoring with first AHL goal late in the third period.
