Atlanta Thrashers recall AHL scoring leader Darren Haydar from Chicago @NHLdotcom

ATLANTA (CP) - Darren Haydar might finally get another chance.

The 27-year-old Milton, Ont., native was recalled Friday by the Atlanta Thrashers. Haydar, who leads the American Hockey League with 89 points, played two games for the Nashville Predators in 2002-2003 and has not played an NHL game since.

"It seems like a long time ago," he said earlier this week of his cameo in Nashville. "Guys I played with and against are in the NHL now and I think that, given a chance, I can belong at that level."

Haydar has recorded 30 goals and 59 assists for the Chicago Wolves this season. Entering play Friday night, he was 21 points ahead of the next-closest player.

Haydar was recalled by the Thrashers last month but did not see any game action before being returned to the Wolves.

He set an AHL record earlier this season by notching a point in 39 consecutive games. The stick and puck he used for the last point on Jan. 6 are in the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Haydar played for the Canadian team and scored a goal at the AHL all-star game in Toronto last Monday.
