The Philadelphia Flyers (6-9-5) will try two new forward combinations in a quest to rediscover their offense when they play the Carolina Hurricanes (7-10-3) on Monday (7 p.m. ET; FS-CR, CSN-PH).
At practice Monday top-line center Claude Giroux was flanked by left wing Michael Raffl and right wing Brayden Schenn. Right wing Jakub Voracek, who has played on Giroux's line for most of the past few seasons, was shifted to right wing on a line with left wing Chris VandeVelde and center Pierre-Edouard Bellemare.
Scott Laughton, who sustained an upper-body injury on his first shift Saturday against the Ottawa Senators, will play Monday. He came out near the end of practice and was confirmed for the lineup by coach Dave Hakstol.
Laughton will play in his regular spot, between Taylor Leier and Sam Gagner. Sean Couturier will stay at center between Matt Read and Wayne Simmonds.
The Flyers have been shut out two straight games and three times in their past six. Their 34 non-shootout goals are the fewest in the League and they're averaging 1.70 goals per game, fewest in the League.
Voracek, who was tied for fourth in the League with 81 points last season, has nine points in 20 games this season. He said he was on board with the change.
"Upset? Not at all. [VandeVelde and Bellemare] are great players," Voracek said, according to the Courier-Post. "We didn't score for the last two games so I think [Hakstol] is trying to spread it out and hopefully get the lines going and get some direction. … We've got to spread it out. I think that's the idea of it. Last year when I played a couple shifts with [Bellemare and VandeVelde] we gained some momentum. Hopefully we do that [Monday]."
