At the Rink: Capitals at Devils

by NHL.com Staff / NHL.com

Mike Cammalleri has been placed on injured reserve retroactive to Dec. 13 with a lower-body injury, the New Jersey Devils announced Saturday.

The forward will be out for New Jersey's game Saturday against the Washington Capitals and is eligible to return Tuesday against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Cammalleri has missed the past three games, and last played Dec. 13 against the Dallas Stars. Playing in his first season in New Jersey, Cammalleri leads the Devils with 11 goals and five power-play goals.

Neither the Devils nor the Capitals had full morning skates Saturday, but New Jersey did make a few moves. Defenseman Adam Larsson and forward Mike Sislo were recalled.

Larsson has not played for the Devils since Dec. 2, but skated for the Albany Devils of the American Hockey League on Friday on a conditioning assignment after being diagnosed with the mumps. He had two assists in a 4-2 win against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Sislo has skated in eight games for the Devils this season, with one assist.

The Devils defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 in a shootout Friday after beginning the third period up 2-1. Nikita Kucherov scored with 41 seconds remaining in regulation for the Lightning, but Keith Kinkaid stopped all three Tampa Bay attempts in the shootout to pick up his first NHL victory.

"We had a good effort last night, and a big win, and it would be great to get another one here in a back-to-back situation against a divisional opponent," goalie Cory Schneider said.

Washington last played Thursday, defeating the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-4 in overtime, which snapped a seven-game winning streak for Columbus.

Capitals coach Barry Trotz addressed the media Saturday morning, saying his forward lines would remain the same from the Thursday game, and defenseman Jack Hillen, a healthy scratch for the past four games, may play, according to the Washington Post.
