ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Minnesota Wild can't seem to shake the flu bug.
Forward Jordan Schroeder will be out when the Wild host the Vancouver Canucks, who drafted him in 2009, at Xcel Energy Center on Wednesday (SN1, SNP, FS-N+).
Wild coach Mike Yeo thought on Tuesday his team had rid itself of the illness that went through several players during a recent four-game road trip.
But Yeo arrived at the arena on Wednesday and learned that Schroeder likely would be out. Minnesota recalled forward Christoph Bertschy from Iowa of the American Hockey League under emergency conditions.
"I don't know if it's food poisoning or the same [bug] or what it is," Yeo said. "It is what it is. What I like is, though this stretch, we haven't made any excuses, regardless of who is in the lineup, we think we have a capable group here."
Forwards Zach Parise and Justin Fontaine and defenseman Marco Scandella remain out of the lineup for Minnesota (11-5-3) with injuries. Add in the illnesses and the Wild's depth has been tested.
Yeo said he's avoided getting frustrated about it because there's nothing he can do to control it.
"Certainly, it's an opportunity for us to make excuses or for our game to slip," Yeo said. "I think it got away from us for a couple of games, but I think we got it back last game. I'm anxious to see if we can gain on that because that's what good teams do."
Vancouver (8-8-6) begins a four-game road trip having won twice in its last 10 games. It concluded a seven-game road trip last week with a 1-4-2 record but is still above .500 on the road this season (5-4-3).
Minnesota has been one of the League's best home teams this season with an 8-1-0 record.
"For us, it's about playing a simple game like we did earlier in the season on the road," Canucks forward Daniel Sedin said. "We want to get off to a good start on this road trip and what better place to do it than in Minnesota."
