The 26-year-old forward, who was a restricted free agent, had 38 points (19 goals, 19 assists) in 74 regular-season games for the Avalanche and Montreal Canadiens last season, including nine points (six goals, three assists) in 16 games after he was acquired in a trade with the Canadiens on March 21.

Lehkonen had 14 points (eight goals, six assists) in 20 Stanley Cup Playoff games to help the Avalanche win the Stanley Cup. He had four game-winning goals, including the series clincher in overtime against the Edmonton Oilers in Game 4 of the Western Conference Final and the Cup-winning goal in Game 6 against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
"Artturi was a great fit to our team last season and obviously played an essential role in our championship run," Avalanche general manager Chris MacFarland said. "He is incredibly versatile, can play anywhere up and down the lineup. He has a non-stop motor and never takes a shift off. He's really smart, highly competitive, knows his role no matter what is asked of him. Getting length and term for a player of his quality was a top offseason priority and we're thrilled to have him for the next five years."
Selected by Montreal in the second round (No. 55) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Lehkonen has 158 points (80 goals, 78 assists) in 412 regular-season games for the Avalanche and Canadiens, and 26 points (14 goals, 12 assists) in 53 playoff games.
Defenseman Josh Manson signed a four-year contract, and goalie Jonas Johansson signed a one-year contract, with the Avalanche on Wednesday.
