Brossoit gets another win for Jets, defeats Coyotes

WINNIPEG-- Laurent Brossoit made 42 saves for the Winnipeg Jets in a 5-3 win against the Arizona Coyotes at Bell MTS Place on Saturday.

It was the second win for Connor Hellebuyck's backup in as many starts this season.
"Definitely helps coming in and being able to get my first two starts, first two wins, and having a successful preseason as well," said Brossoit, who signed with the Jets as a free agent July 1. "It just kind of adds to the confidence each game."

Defensemen Josh Morrissey and Tyler Myers each had a goal and an assist, and forwards Adam Lowry, Mathieu Perreault and Blake Wheeler scored for the Jets (5-2-1). Defenseman Jacob Trouba had three assists.
"We're grinding away," Wheeler said. "We're still kind of searching for that identity, that A game. I think we're getting better every game. We started to get a bit more physical and I think that helped us."
Clayton Keller scored two goals, and Christian Fischer scored for the Coyotes (2-5-0), who have not won consecutive games in October since 2015. Defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson had three assists.

Arizona has seven goals in its past two games after scoring three in its first five.
"It's good to see some go in," Keller said. "We played hard tonight. We stuck with it. We didn't give up. We were right there. We learned a lot about our team tonight."
Antti Raanta made 27 saves for Arizona. He allowed three goals or fewer in 16 consecutive games dating to Feb. 24.
Fischer made it 1-0 at 15:37 of the first period, taking a pass behind the defense to beat Brossoit on a deke for his first of the season.
Lowry tied it 1-1 with 44 seconds left in the period by redirecting Morrissey's point shot.
Winnipeg took a 2-1 lead on Myers' first of the season at 14:28. Trouba drew two Coyotes to him at the point, opening up space for Myers, whose wrist shot beat Raanta glove side.

Morrissey scored his first of the season with a one-timer from the slot on the power play at 17:34 to make it 3-1.
"I thought we were working it around pretty well ... it was a change of sides, and when that happens you can sometimes slide down the middle, and Scheifele made an unbelievable pass to me," Morrissey said. "I just had to basically find that far side of the net, which was nice."
Keller made it 3-2 at 3:50 of the third period. Perreault gave Winnipeg a 4-2 lead at 5:36. Arizona challenged for goaltender interference, but review determined Ekman-Larsson caused Jets forward Brendan Lemieux to contact Raanta.

Keller made it 4-3 at 11:53, and Wheeler scored into an empty net at 19:18.
"A couple of nice shots, really nice shots," Coyotes coach Rick Tocchet said of Keller's goals. "He had another one there, so he's feeling it out there. It got us back in the game. I like that. We had a chance at the end of the power play 6-on-5, we couldn't crawl out, but we gave ourselves a chance to tie the game."
