Coyotes win third in row, end Maple Leafs streak

TORONTO -- Antti Raanta made 26 saves to help the Arizona Coyotes to their season-high third consecutive win, 4-1 against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre on Monday.
Brendan Perlini, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Max Domi and Tobias Rieder scored, and Clayton Keller had two assists for the Coyotes (5-15-3), who are 4-3-2 in their past nine games after starting the season 1-12-1.

"They're a good hockey team. They'd won six in a row; I think they're one of the better teams in the League," Arizona coach Rick Tocchet said. "It was one of those games where we knew we had to play a certain way if we wanted to beat them."

James van Riemsdyk scored, and Frederik Andersen made 28 saves for the Maple Leafs (14-8-0), who lost for the first time in seven games.
"Get ready for the game you're playing today. That's what a good pro does, that's what you do each and every day," Toronto coach Mike Babcock said. "A lot of the guys that are driving us, like the young skill guys, not today. They weren't here today."
Auston Matthews, playing his 100th NHL game, appeared to tie it 2-2 with 3:50 left, but the goal was overturned after Tocchet challenged and video review showed Zach Hyman interfered with Raanta.

"You never know, but I felt that their guy speared me and I went inside the net, couldn't get back in time even though I was trying," Raanta said. "I didn't try to sell it too much. I just tried to get back to the play straight away, but I didn't have enough time."
Hyman said he did not feel he prevented Raanta from making the save.
"My stick hits his pad. I think I was pushed in, but I think the goalie had enough time to get across and thought he got his position well," he said. "I guess that's how they're calling goalie interference, so tough break for us."
Van Riemsdyk tied the game 1-1 with a power-play goal 33 seconds into the second period. Raanta made a save on Nazem Kadri's deflection of Mitchell Marner's shot from the top of the right face-off circle, but van Riemsdyk put the rebound over the goalie's left pad from the top of the crease.

The Coyotes took at 2-1 lead with 1:43 left in the second when Ekman-Larsson scored on the power play with a wrist shot past Andersen's blocker from the right point.
Keller assisted on the game-winning goal with a one-touch pass across the blue line to Ekman-Larsson, allowing him a shooting lane to get the puck through to the net.
"I saw him out of the corner of my eye, and [Domi] made a good play to get it to me," Keller said. "We kind of worked on that a little bit, so I just tried to get it to him quick, and unbelievable shot by him. It was good to see it find the back of the net."
Domi scored an empty-net goal with 1:06 left, and Rieder scored another with 41 seconds remaining to make it 4-1.
Perlini ended Andersen's shutout streak at 140:01 when he scored a power-play goal at 9:53 of the first period to give the Coyotes a 1-0 lead.

Coyotes defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson returned to the lineup after missing 10 games with an upper-body injury. He had an assist, two shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in 19:41. … Kadri's assist on van Riemsdyk's goal extended his point streak to seven games. He has four goals and four assists during the streak.
