Coyotes team scope

Goaltender Louis Domingue will start for the Arizona Coyotes following a 6-3 loss at the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday. Teemu Pulkkinen scored in his Coyotes debut after he was traded from the Minnesota Wild on Sunday, but Arizona allowed two power-play goals and a shorthanded goal to lose its second straight game on a three-game road trip. "We're in a position where we need to dig in here," Alex Goligoski said after the game. "It's not just to ride this thing out. We have to build some momentum. There's a lot of guys playing for a lot of things in here. We have to find a way to do things better together." Defenseman Kevin Connauton left the game Thursday and did not return. Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said he is week-to-week with an upper-body injury. Anthony Duclair, who was recalled from Tucson of the American Hockey League on Wednesday, will take his spot in the lineup. The Coyotes have lost four of their past five games.

Hurricanes team scope

Jeff Skinner is expected to return to the Carolina Hurricanes lineup after missing two games with an upper-body injury. Goaltender Cam Ward will start for Carolina which is 1-5-3 in its past nine games. Peters complimented the play of Patrick Brown, who played 12:18 in a 4-3 overtime loss at the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday after being recalled from Charlotte of the American Hockey League. "Brown was outstanding with his energy, his pace and his execution," Peters said. "If he can play like that, it makes it easy for us in the summer." Brown, who has played 15 NHL games over three seasons, will play on the fourth line with Joakim Nordstrom and center Derek Ryan, who scored against the Lightning. "It's a real interesting line moving forward, with a lot of pace on the wings with a skill guy in the middle," Peters said. "We'll see how it looks tonight. We want to play fast coming down the stretch. We will see if we're able to here tonight."
