Archibald scores first two OHL goals in Sault Ste. MarieÂ's 7-1 rout of Sarnia @NHL

In his 90th career game, Brandon Archibald finally found the back of the net.

Archibald scored his first two Ontario Hockey League goals and added two assists as the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds handed the Sarnia Sting their eighth straight loss, 7-1 on Saturday night.

Archibald, a six-foot-three defenceman from Port Huron, Mich., is eligible for the 2010 NHL entry draft. After posting just eight assists as a rookie, he has 17 points in 29 games this season.

Brett Thompson, with a goal and two assists, Vern Cooper, James Livingston and Jack Carrick also scored for the Greyhounds (15-12-2), who sit third in the West Division.

Elsewhere in the OHL it was: Barrie 4 Sudbury 3 (SO); Brampton 2 Oshawa 1 (SO); Erie 4 London 3; Guelph 7 Kitchener 4; Kingston 6 Plymouth 2; Niagara 3 Ottawa 2; Owen Sound 5 Belleville 4; and Peterborough 5 Saginaw 3.

At Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., Jacob Muzzin added four assists for the Greyhounds, while Brock Beukeboom and Nick Cousins added two each.

J.C. Campagna had the only goal for Sarnia (10-17-1).

Bryce O'Hagan made 20 saves to pick up the win, while Shayne Campbell allowed all seven goals on 26 shots in defeat.


Colts 4 Wolves 3 (SO)

At Barrie, Ont., Bryan Cameron scored the shootout winner as the Colts defeated Sudbury.

Cameron also scored during regulation, and Luke Pither and Alex Hutchings added singles for Barrie (22-4-1).

Chris VanLaren, John McFarland and Marcus Foligno scored for the Wolves (9-15-4).


Battalion 2 Generals 1 (SO)

At Oshawa, Ont., Ian Watters scored the only goal of the shootout as Brampton defeated the Generals.

Sean Jones scored in regulation for the Battalion (12-11-4).

Christian Thomas scored the lone goal for Oshawa (8-14-4), which has lost 12 of its last 13 games.


Otters 4 Knights 3

At Erie, Pa., the Otters extended their winning streak to three games with a win over London.

Stephen Genua, Greg McKegg, Andrew Yogan and Zack Torquato scored for Erie (12-11-5).

Steve Tarasuk, Nazem Kadri and Justin Taylor replied for the Knights (18-8-1).


Storm 7 Rangers 4

At Guelph, Ont., Taylor Beck scored his first hat trick of the season as the Storm defeated Kitchener.

Mathew Sisca had a goal and two assists, while J.P Labardo, Tyler Carroll and Michael Latta also scored for Guelph (12-12-2). Peter Holland had four assists and Sam Lofquist added three.

Chris MacKinnon scored a hat trick for the Rangers (17-7-3). Matthew Tipoff had the other goal.


Frontenacs 6 Whalers 2

At Plymouth, Mich., Derek Froats and Zach Harnden each scored twice as Kingston defeated the Whalers.

Nathan Moon and Michael Farrell added goals for the Frontenacs (13-14-2).

The Whalers (15-13-0) got goals from Joe Gaynor and Tyler J. Brown and two assists from Ryan Hayes.


IceDogs 3 67's 2

At St. Catharines, Ont., Michael Hasson had two goals and Mark Visentin turned aside 42 shots as the IceDogs downed Ottawa.

Andrew Agozzino had the other goal for Niagara (9-15-4).

Thomas Nesbitt and Tyler Toffoli replied for the 67's (11-11-5).


Attack 5 Bulls 4

At Owen Sound, Ont., Bobby Mignardi had a goal and two assists as the Attack edged Belleville.

Roman Berdnikov, Steven Shipley, Marcus Carroll and Grant McGee added goals for Owen Sound (12-15-3).

Kyle DeCoste had two goals and an assist for the Bulls (10-16-4), while Tyler Taylor and Alex Basso also scored.


Petes 5 Spirit 3

At Saginaw, Mich., Ryan Spooner scored a hat trick as part of a four-point night and Peterborough held on to beat the Spirit.

Mike Lomas and Liam Heelis both had a goal and two assists for the Petes (15-13-1), while Pat Daley added a goal and an assist.

Garret Ross, Jordan Szwarz, Tyler Murovich, Vince Trocheck and Michael Sgarbossa all scored in the third period for Saginaw (16-9-2). Sgarbossa and Ryan O'Connor added a pair of assists each.
