SPOKANE, Wash. - Anthony Bardaro's goal late in the third period led the Spokane Chiefs to a 3-2 victory over the Swift Current Broncos in Western Hockey League play Wednesday.
Bardaro snapped off a quick shot from the inside edge of the left circle, beating Broncos goaltender Jon Groenheyde to keep the Chiefs perfect against East Division opponents this season.
Brenden Kichton and Dominik Uher had a goal apiece for Spokane (11-5-3).
"I thought the first two periods there was not enough second effort," Chiefs coach Don Nachbaur said.
"But I thought we brought it in the third, we really cared, competed hard, blocked some shots when the game was on the line. We were there to win it."
Reece Scarlett and Adam Lowry scored for Swift Current (10-12-3)
The Broncos tied the game on Lowry's ninth goal of the season at 10:32 in the third, but Bardaro put the Chiefs ahead for good less than two minutes later.
After a scoreless first period the Chiefs took a 2-1 lead on goals by Kichton and Uher.
Spokane goaltender Mac Engel made 18 saves for the win, while Groenheyde turned aside 32 shots.
