Anthony and Roy earn QMJHL player of the week awards

BOUCHERVILLE, Que. - Saint John Sea Dogs forward Steven Anthony and Cape Breton Screaming Eagles goalie Olivier Roy are the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's offensive and defensive players of the week.

Anthony scored three goals and added five assists in only two contests. The Sea Dogs centre enjoyed a career-best six-point game Sunday in an 8-1 win over the Gatineau Olympiques.

Roy posted a 1.67 goals-against-average and .950 save percentage in three Cape Breton wins. His best outing was Sunday, making 36 saves in a 4-1 win over Moncton.

Giants forward Evander Kane named WHL player of week

CALGARY - Vancouver Giants forward Evander Kane is the Western Hockey League's player of the week.

Kane scored four goals with two assists and was a plus-3 in helping the Giants to a pair of wins.

He scored in the winner in a 4-1 victory over Kootenay on Friday and assisted on the OT winner in a 5-4 victory in Lethbridge.
