Andrew will add more leadership to our team. I had the opportunity to discuss with him over the past few days, and I sense his determination and excitement in joining the Canadiens' organization for many years to come."
Shaw was acquired by the Canadiens in a trade with the Blackhawks for two second-round picks in the 2016 NHL Draft. Montreal on June 24 also traded forward Lars Eller to the Washington Capitals for a second-round pick in 2017 and in 2018.
Shaw was selected in the fifth round (No. 139) by the Blackhawks in the 2011 NHL Draft. He had 14 goals, 34 points and a plus-11 rating in 78 regular-season games this season, and led Chicago with four goals in six Stanley Cup Playoff games. In 322 NHL regular-season games, Shaw has 70 goals, 137 points and 300 penalty minutes.
