Andrew Fournier scores shootout winner as Plymouth defeats Ottawa 3-2 @NHLdotcom

OTTAWA - Andrew Fournier scored on the third shot of the shootout as the Plymouth Whalers defeated the Ottawa 67's 3-2 in Ontario Hockey League action Friday.

Patrick Lee and A.J. Henks scored for the Whalers (29-19-2-2) in regulation while Plymouth goalie Jeremy Smith made 33 saves.

The 67's (23-24-2-3) got goals from Logan Couture and Jamie McGinn and a 36-save performance for Chris Perugini, who started after No. 1 netminder Adam Courchaine cracked the pinky finger of his glove hand in practice Friday morning.

Couture was playing his first game after sitting out the last 14 and 17 of the last 18 with a concussion. He scored just nine seconds into the game to tie a 67's franchise record for the fastest goal at the start of a game. Frank Donnelly did it in the 1974-75 season as did Wayne Holmes two years later.

"That's one of the better games we've played and against a good team," 67's coach Brian Kilrea said. "I liked our effort and we did a lot of things well and we had a couple of chances where we didn't capitalized but so did they."
