GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Andreas Athanasiou scored 4:45 into overtime as the Grand Rapids Griffins edged the Hamilton Bulldogs 3-2 on Friday night in American Hockey League action.
Marek Tvrdon and Andy Miele chipped in for the Griffins (29-17-6), the affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings, in the third period.
Drayson Bowman opened the scoring for Hamilton (26-19-7) with a power-play goal in the first. Morgan Ellis scored his first of the season to even the game at two in the third period for the farm club of the Montreal Canadiens.
Petr Mrazek kicked out 33 shots for the win while Joey MacDonald made 31 saves for the Bulldogs.
Grand Rapids went 0 for 2 on the power play while Hamilton scored once on three chances.
