Ducks team scope

Anaheim Ducks goalie John Gibson is expected to back up Jonathan Bernier after leaving a 5-3 loss against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday because of an upper-body injury. Gibson practiced Sunday and participated in the morning skate Monday. The Ducks are 8-2-1 in their past 11 games but will look to rebound from a 5-3 loss to the Minnesota Wild on Saturday. "We had a 3-1 lead in the hockey game and when you blow a 3-1 lead, there's lots of areas in which you can pick and choose what to work on," coach Randy Carlyle said. "We've got to do a better job in those situations of clamping down and not sitting back and waiting for the opposition to come at us… you can't take it back." The Ducks lead the Pacific Division, one point ahead of the San Jose Sharks and Edmonton Oilers, and are 3-1-1 in their past five road games. Forward Corey Perry is two points away from 700 in his NHL career.

Jets team scope

The Winnipeg Jets will be without forward Drew Stafford because of a lower-body injury. Stafford was injured in a 5-3 win against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday and is considered day to day, according to coach Paul Maurice. Forward Andrew Copp is expected to be promoted to the top line with Mark Scheifele and Nikolaj Ehlers. The Jets look to win their third straight game for the first time this season with Monday being their ninth opportunity. "Playing to our game plan for pretty well the full 60 [minutes] in both games and we need to keep that going," defenseman Josh Morrissey said. "Obviously, we're on the outside looking in right now but I like the way we're playing." The Jets have scored 11 goals in their past two games and are three points behind the Calgary Flames for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Western Conference. Goalie Ondrej Pavelec will make his third straight start after being called up from Manitoba of the American Hockey League last week. Pavelec is 2-0-0 with a .914 save percentage and a 3.03 goals-against average. Maurice said it's possible Pavelec plays in the second of a back-to-back against the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday.
