ANA VGK 10.20 recap Fleury

LAS VEGAS -- Marc-Andre Fleury made 17 saves for the Vegas Golden Knights in a 3-1 win against the Anaheim Ducks at T-Mobile Arena on Saturday.

The win was Fleury's 408th, moving him past Glenn Hall for 10th on the NHL all-time list.
"It's an honor to be there," Fleury said. "I've been fortunate to play with some great teammates on other teams and it's good to be up there."

Ben Street scored, and John Gibson made 42 saves for Anaheim (5-2-1). Ryan Getzlaf had an assist in his return to the lineup after missing the past five games with a groin injury.
"I'm just doing my job, saving the puck," Gibson said. "Not much else I can do. I just try to go out and give the team a chance to win. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I just try to bring my best every night."
Jonathan Marchessault had a goal and an assist, and William Karlsson scored for Vegas (4-4-0), which has won three straight.

ANA@VGK: Karlsson deflects puck past Gibson for PPG

"Our forecheck was amazing tonight," Marchessault said. "We played fast, we got a lot of shots off. Not necessarily quality ones, but we still got good chances. Gibson was good as usual. It was good to have a good home game here."
Karlsson scored on the power play to give the Golden Knights a 1-0 lead at 19:46 of the first period, redirecting Marchessault's initial shot five-hole on Gibson.
Ryan Reaves scored his first goal of the season on a rebound in front to make it 2-0 at 9:04 of the second period.

ANA@VGK: Reaves doubles the lead on a rebound

"All around, for almost 50 minutes of that game, I thought we dominated," Reaves said. "You could see it in how many shots they had through two periods (nine). Any time you shut them down defensively, and you have that many shots for, you're playing a good team game."
Street cut it to 2-1 at 1:24 of the third period, but Marchessault scored an empty-net goal at 19:43 to make it 3-1.
"Our goalie gave us a chance again, and had we scored a goal early, we would've had a little life," Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. "But we displayed very little life in the first two periods of the game."

They said it

"I think we just need to be better. It's getting old. You see the game. You can see what we're doing. It's pretty self-explanatory. We're not playing to the level that I think we're capable of playing and I think we're just being too satisfied with being average." -- Ducks goalie John Gibson

ANA@VGK: Gibson sprawls, stops Smith with helmet

"The last three games, [against the Philadelphia Flyers] maybe wasn't a complete game, but the last two games I thought it was Vegas hockey that you saw all last year, and we're going to keep building on that." -- Golden Knights forward Ryan Reaves
