Buchnevich's five-point night fuels Blues' win

ST. LOUIS --Pavel Buchnevich had two goals and two assists, and the St. Louis Blues won their sixth in a row with a 6-2 victory against the Anaheim Ducks at Enterprise Center on Saturday.

Robert Thomas had a goal and two assists, Jordan Kyrou had three assists and Brayden Schenn had a goal and an assist for St. Louis (9-8-0), which had lost eight in a row prior to the winning streak. Jordan Binnington made 30 saves.
"I just think when you're winning it's always fun," Buchnevich said. "I don't know how many we win now, six right now, five? Hopefully we keep going, and it's always fun when you are winning, good mood in the locker room. Everybody like so positive and all the positive emotions there. I think everybody happy, even coaches, too."

Cam Fowler and Adam Henrique each had a goal and an assist for Anaheim (5-12-1), which has lost five of its past six games and has yet to win a game in regulation this season.
John Gibson allowed five goals on 29 shots before being replaced at the start of the third period by Anthony Stolarz, who made four saves on five shots.
Noel Acciari gave the Blues a 1-0 lead at 12:44 of the first period, redirecting Justin Faulk's shot after Ivan Barbashev's forecheck turned the puck over.
Buchnevich made it 2-0 at 16:07 after receiving a pass at the hash marks from Thomas for a one-timer.
The Ducks were outshot 16-5 in the first period.
"We just did not have it," Anaheim coach Dallas Eakins said. "We had one player compete in the first period, and that was the goaltender. It wasn't until the third period that we got our [stuff] together. I think that makes us even more angry as a group, that why now? It's basically too late. ... Every night in this league is a hard one. You are never, ever going to get an easy one."
Buchnevich extended it to 3-0 at 1:02 of the second period, skating along the goal line with the puck before roofing a backhand off Gibson's left arm.
Schenn made it 4-0 at 4:52 with a shot from the right face-off circle on a rush after breaking up a play in the Blues' zone.

Fowler scored his first of the season through traffic on a power play to make it 4-1 at 6:43, but Torey Krug pushed it to 5-1 at 8:44 with a one-timer from the high slot for his own power-play goal.
"First two periods were really good," Blues coach Craig Berube said. "We checked hard. I thought that forecheck and our hounding in the offensive zone were really good. We were tight. Neutral zone was really good, checking-wise. We had success."
Henrique cut it 5-2 at 8:41 of the third period, tipping in a shot from Fowler on a power play.
"I think just the first few periods weren't, you know, the competitive level isn't high enough," Henrique said. "I think that was just, that was really not X's and O's execution. I think it was bottom line, was just the compete level. They had a higher one than us those first two periods."
Thomas scored on a one-timer from the left circle on a 2-on-1 with Kyrou at 15:28 for the 6-2 final.
"Yeah, I think we got off to a good start and I think we're all working hard, getting pucks back in the offensive zone and making some good plays from the neutral zone," Thomas said. "So yeah, some nights you just seem to find each other and it was one of those tonight."
