Bruins-Ducks

BOSTON -- The Boston Bruins' point streak ended at 18 games with a 3-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks at TD Garden on Tuesday.

It was the Bruins' first regulation loss since Dec. 14. Boston's 14-0-4 run was tied for the second-longest point streak in its history.

"You know it was something special," Bruins center Patrice Bergeron said. "I think it's been a lot of fun and we've got to keep that going. It's one game, and you've got to realize a lot of things that we've done [well] during that streak. Just to stay focused and keep pushing each other to be better and be at our best every night and go back to that."
Anaheim goaltender John Gibson made 25 saves before he left the game with an injury with 7:25 left in the third period. Ryan Miller came in and finished the game with five saves on six shots for the Ducks (25-17-9), who have won three in a row.
Adam Henrique scored twice and Jakob Silfverberg scored for Anaheim, which has won nine straight games against Boston.

"I think everybody knew in here that we had to be on our game tonight in order to come out with a win," Henrique said. "They've been playing great. Even up to a couple minutes to go they're pushing hard and found a way to get the one there late. So you can't take your foot off the gas for a second with these guys, the firepower they have."
Ryan Spooner scored, and Anton Khudobin made 24 saves for the Bruins (29-11-8), who lost for the first time in six games.
Silfverberg made it 1-0 at 9:04 in the first period after Khudobin couldn't handle a backhand shot by Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler. The rebound deflected into the net off his skate and Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara's leg.
Henrique made it 2-0 with a power-play goal at 13:59. His wrist shot from the left circle went through a Corey Perry screen.
"I think our starts are something that we talked about a lot over the last month, especially coming out of the [All-Star] break too," Henrique said. "The way we were playing going into the break, you want to find a way to continue that after a few days off. So I thought we did a good job of that, controlling the play and obviously coming out with the lead."
Play was stopped 33 seconds into the third period because Gibson appeared to sustain an injury on a save on Bergeron's one-timer from the slot. After Gibson was attended to by the trainer, he stayed in the game until a timeout at 12:35, when Miller entered. There was no update on Gibson after the game.
Spooner scored with 42 seconds left after the Bruins pulled Khudobin to make it 2-1.

Henrique scored an empty-net goal to make it 3-1 at 19:53.

They said it

"I feel good all over the ice. It's not my focus, I'm just trying to go out there and play and continue to play well, trying to take advantage of opportunities. And the puck's going in the net right now. So, I feel good, just to keep shooting, keep things simple and not overthink too many things and just keep playing." -- Ducks forward Adam Henrique, who has a six-game point streak (six goals, two assists)
"Well, again, it gives us confidence in the abilities of both our goaltenders. You know, we've said it all along, we have 1A and 1B, and that was the plan at the beginning ... we felt that we were lucky [Ryan] wanted to come play with us, and he was a match there, and it's just proving his worth." -- Ducks coach Randy Carlyle
"He battled back. A two-goal night, at the end of the day, is giving your team a chance to win. Ultimately, he did that. It's just early on you don't like to dig yourself a hole and that's where we needed one of those saves." - Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy on goaltender Anton Khudobin
