SUDBURY, Ont. - Carlos Amestoy scored twice, including the game winner, as the Saginaw Spirit edged the host Sudbury Wolves 9-8 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League action.
Brandon Saad scored a goal and set up three more for the Spirit (19-21-5), Garret Ross, Frank Schumacher and Michael Fine had a goal and an assist apiece while Terry Trafford, Steven Strong and Josh Shalla added single goals.
Joshua Leivo and Nathan Pancel lead the Wolves (23-15-3) offensively with two goals each, Andrey Kuchin and and Michael Sgarbossa had a goal and assist apiece as Samuel Schutt and Justin Shefton scored the others.
Jake Paterson started in goal for Saginaw but was pulled after allowing four goals on 17 shots through 20 minutes of play.
Clint Windsor came on in relief to start the second and picked up the win after stopping 21 of 25 shots.
Sudbury's Joel Vienneau allowed eight goals on 31 shots before being yanked in the third period for Jeremy Pominville, who stopped 2 of 3 shots in relief.
The Spirit went 4 for 6 on the power play while the Wolves were 2 for 6.
