KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Tri-City Americans exploded for five goals in the first period and remained perfect on home ice with a 5-3 victory over the Seattle Thunderbirds in Western Hockey League action Tuesday night.

Neal Prokop, Justin Feser, Tyler Schmidt, Johnny Lazo and Brooks Macek all scored in the first as Tri-City (17-5-0) bombarded Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard with 16 shots and took a 5-1 lead.

Seattle (8-13-4) rallied back in the second with a pair of goals by Jeremy Schappert and Jonathan Parker to cut the deficit to 5-3, but that would be all as the Americans held on for the win.
