KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Tri-City Americans scored four unanswered goals in the third period to rally for a 5-2 victory over the Everett Silvertips in WHL action Friday night.
Mitch Fadden tied the game at two for the Americans, then the flood gates opened with goals by Brett Plouffe, Jordan Messier and Brendan Shinnimin.
Brooks Macek also scored for Tri-City, which got 23 saves from Chet Pickard, who won his 30th game of the season.
Shane Harper and Jesse Burt scored for the Silvertips, who got a stellar performance from goaltender Kent Simpson with 36 saves.
The U.S. Division leading Americans (41-16-0-3) took a four-point lead over Spokane after the Chiefs were shutout by Seattle 3-0.
The loss, coupled with Kamloops' win over Chilliwack and Seattle's victory over Spokane, dropped Everett (25-27-7-2) to seventh in the Western Conference standings, one point behind the Thunderbirds.
