Back in January, when things weren't going very well for Jake Allen, 5-year-old Mason Gilbert wrote him a letter of encouragement and asked his dad to post it on social media.
The letter read: "Dear Jake Allen, you are my favorite player. I hope you win tonight. I know you can do it. You're a great goalie. Love, Mason. I'm 5 years old."

The letter worked!
Allen was
named the NHL's Second Star of the Week on Monday
after posting a 3-0 record last week in three starts. He stopped 89 of the 92 shots he faced, posting a 1.00 goals-against average, a .967 save-percentage and one shutout.
On Monday, Mason brought his note to the Blues' practice at the Ice Zone at St. Louis Mills. Allen saw him, tossed him a puck and later gave him an autographed goalie stick in the Blues locker room.
