Aliu scores a pair to lead London to 7-3 trouncing of Sudbury @NHLdotcom

SUDBURY, Ont. - Akim Aliu had a pair of first-period goals as the London Knights earned a 7-3 victory over the Sudbury Wolves on Friday night in the Ontario Hockey League.

Aliu, playing his first game of the OHL season, scored twice in a six-minute span of the first period as the Knights (9-3-0-1) opened up a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes. Phil Varone added a goal and two assists while Matt Clarke, Steven Tasaruk, Philip McRae and Justin Taylor also had goals in the win, extending the Knights' points streak to eight games.

Peter Hermenegildo, John Kurtz and John McFarland replied for the Wolves (5-4-1-1).

Jason Guy's 34-save effort preserved the win for London.

Andrew Loverock turned aside 22 shots in defeat for Sudbury.
