Alfredsson to receive key to city of Ottawa

Long-time Ottawa Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson will receive the key to the city of Ottawa on March 5.

Ottawa Mayor Watson made the announcement on his verified Twitter account Wednesday.

Alfredsson retired from the NHL on Dec. 4; he spent 17 of his 18 seasons with the Senators, including the final 14 as captain. He is the all-time leader in games played (1,178), goals (426), assists (682) and points (1,108) for the Senators.
