Alexis Lafreniere signed a two-year contract with the New York Rangers on Thursday. It has an average annual value of $2.325 million.

The 21-year-old forward had an NHL career-high 39 points (16 goals, 23 assists) in 81 regular-season games for the New York Rangers last season and no points in seven Stanley Cup Playoff games.

The No. 1 pick in the 2020 NHL Draft, Lafreniere has 91 points (47 goals, 44 assists) in 216 regular-season games and nine points (two goals, seven assists) in 27 playoff games.
