KELOWNA, B.C. - Alexander Wiklund scored the shootout winner as the Chilliwack Bruins rallied to defeat the Kelowna Rockets 4-3 in Western Hockey League action on Wednesday night.
Brandon Manning scored with 2:33 left to force overtime, while Ryan Howse, with his 25th goal,and Partik Bhungal also scored for Chilliwack (15-40-2-4). The Bruins won for the first time in 11 games. Their last win was also against the Rockets, a 5-4 victory on Jan. 23.
Colin Long, with his 29th goal of the season, Cody Almond, with his 27th, and Stepan Novotny, with his 15th, all scored in a 56-second span midway through the first period for Kelowna (35-20-1-3).
The Rockets led 3-0 and 3-1 at the period breaks yet allowed the Bruins back into the game with a lacklustre effort in the final frame.
Mark Guggenberger made 19 saves for Kelowna, while the Bruins split their netminding duties. Lucas Gore started but lasted just 9:55 after giving up three goals on eight shots. Mark Friesen was perfect in relief, making 32 stops.
