Steen joins Blues party in win against Flames

What you need to know to start your NHL day @NHLdotcom

The St. Louis Blues have gotten the 2017-18 season off to a flying start. On Wednesday, Alexander Steen joined the fun.

The forward scored his first four points of the season -- including his first goal -- to help the Blues to a 5-3 win against the Calgary Flames.

St. Louis (7-2-1) has its second-best win total after 10 games; the Blues were 8-1-1 in 2002-03.

Forward Jaden Schwartz, whose 14 points (seven goals, seven assists) rank third in the NHL behind forwards Steven Stamkos (20) and Nikita Kucherov (17) of the Tampa Bay Lightning, scored to extend his point streak to five games. He has at least one point in nine of his 10 games this season.

Alex Pietrangelo also scored to give him 12 points (four goals, eight assists), which leads all NHL defensemen. Jeff Brown (1993-94) and Steve Duchene (1997-98) hold the Blues record for points by a defenseman (13) in the first 10 games of the season.
